| The CanIndie Project |
|
Our Visit to FOREST HOUSE |

CyberSlang is spearheading a unique project called CanIndie in order to provide Canadian Independent Recording Artists with a venue to better promote themselves online. Presently, these musicians, with limited finacial resources, rely on MySpace and Facebook as their main online marketing tool. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find these performers on these social networking sites. Therefore, exposure is minimal.
CyberSlang is in the process of creating the CanIndie portal with the following goals:
- to develop a central online location showcasing Independent Artists, where the general public, talent scouts, managers, etc. can easliy access their information
- to keep costs to the artist at a minimum, offering free listings and profiles, economical graphic and website design, and low-cost hosting
In an effort to jump start this project and establish online credibility, CyberSlang will be offering twenty five bands/artists FREE website and graphic design on a first-come-first served basis, charging only minimal hosting fees.

Forest House is a magnificent Eco-lodge, located in Saskatchewan, Canada's far north. The CyberSlang team was very excited to be given the honor to design a new website for them, which was launched in January, 2009. We were even more pleased, when we were invited to visit this prestigious lodge to shoot photos and write more content for the site.
On July 2, 2009, our design team leader, Zane Hrynewich, and his wife, Velda, flew to Forest House via float plane for a three day stay. They were absolutely blown away! They spent their time hiking the many trails in the pristine Boreal Forest, enjoying gourment meals prepared with local ingredients such as, wild rice, cattail shutes, dandelions, and vegetables grown in the lush organic gardens at the lodge, and just plain relaxing. Zane captured hundreds of images of wildflowers and insect life. His assignment of embellishing the Forest House website was an easy one.
